Statistics Denmark implements projects in other countries with the purpose to build up these countries’ capacity to produce reliable, comparable, timely and available statistics. Below is a list of some of those countries we currently support as well as some of those countries we supported in the past.
Ukraine
November 2011-July 2013
Continuing a Twinning Light project which Statistics Denmark implemented from December 2009 to June 2010 in the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, this 18-months Twinning project has a wide scope covering tourism statistics, national accounts, business register, salary statistics, investments statistics, price indices, response burden and human resources. The project is lead by Statistics Denmark in partnership with Statistics Finland, Statistics Sweden, INE of Spain, Statistics Lithuania, Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia and the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic.

Bosnia-Herzegovina
September 2011- September 2013
Statistics Denmark is, in partnership with Destatis, Statistics Finland, Istat and Statistics Lithuania, leading the EU-Twinning project on "Support to the State and Entity Statistical Institutions, phase V" in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The beneficiaries are the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Branch Office in Brcko District; the Institute for Statistics of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina; and the Institute for Statistics of Republika Srpska. The project covers the following topics: Business register, structural business statitsics, construction statistics, retail trade statistics, tourism statistics, extended household budget survey, metadata and classifications, dissemination and institutional strengthening.

Armenia
January 2011-Februay 2013
A two-year EU Twinning project commenced at the end of January 2011 when the Danish Resident Twinning Adviser took office in the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (NSSRA). The project covered the following topics; quality management, national accounts, business statistics and business register, national accounts, agricultural census, harmonized consumer price index (HCPI) and ICT statistics. Statistics Denmark partnered with Destatis of Germany (junior partner), Statistics Finland, Statistics Lithuania, the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia and Statistics Sweden.

Mozambique
2002-2015
Statistics Denmark has together with Statistics Norway and Statistics Sweden in a consortium called Scanstat provided assistance to the national statistics institution in Mozambique, INE during three five-years planning periods (2003-2007, 2008-2012, 2013-2017). Scanstat has assigned two long term advisers until the end of 2015. The project covers a range of different statistical subjects as well as management support. The financial support is pooled in a basket where a range of donors are involved.

Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar
January 2011-May 2013
Statistics Denmark implements a World Bank financed project with the aim to assess, revise and rebase the National Accounts Aggregates of Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. The statistical production is divided between the National Bureau of Statistical (NBS) in Dar Es Salaam and the Office of the Chief Government Statistician (OCGS) in Zanzibar. A major objective is therefore to harmonize the GNP methodology used by these offices. An important aspect of the project is to build capacity in the two National Accounts Units by strengthening the organizational structure by linking internal and external data providers.
Croatia
2002 - September 2012
Statistics Denmark has been engaged in statistical capacity building in Croatia since 2002 covering topics such as labour market statistics, labour force survey, unemployment statistics, national and regional accounts, input/output tables, public finance, statistical registers, structural business statistics, intrastat, agriculture statistics, capital stock statistics and energy data management. Currently, a project is being implemented with the Croatian Bureau of Statistics on agri-monetary statistics.
Tajikistan
July 2007 - June 2011
Statistics Denmark is a partner to a World Bank financed project lead by the German Statistical Office, Destatis. The project aims to strengthen the statistical capacity of Goskomstat; the national statistics institute of Tajikistan. Statistics Denmark provides support in agriculture statistics where one of the objectives is to introduce a sample surveys to substitute the regular agriculture censuses. Other topics include governments finance statistics and the implementation of a labour force survey.
Egypt
August 2008 - November 2010
Statistics Denmark lead in partnership with Statistics Finland, Statistics Sweden, Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia and the Czech Statistical Office a 27 months EU Twinning project in Egypt at the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The project focused on the following topics: statistical policies and legislation, human resources and organisation, statistical awareness and dissemination, IT-functions, national accounts, foreign trade statistics, consumer and producer price indices, and statistical business register.

Israel
May 2013 - October 2014
Statistics Denmark is implementing a EU-financed Twinning project in the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics. The project covers topics such as national accounts, education statistics, data collection and management of interviews, dissemination of statistics, coordination of the national statistics system and strategic planning. Statistics Netherlands is also providing expertise to the project.
